Who We Are
Powering Progress, Investing in Africa’s Energy Future
CEC Africa Investments Limited (CECA) was established in 2013 as a pan-African investment company focused on the power sector. Incorporated in the Republic of Mauritius under the Mauritius Companies Act 2001, CECA holds a Global Business Licence and is governed by the Financial Services Act 2007. The company has been listed on the Lusaka Securities Exchange since 2016.
CECA is a strategic investment holding company with a mandate to develop, finance, and operate energy infrastructure projects across Sub-Saharan Africa. The company currently holds equity in two key subsidiaries:
- KANN Utility Company Limited (KANN) – A Nigerian investment holding company in which CECA holds a 75% shareholding. KANN, in turn, owns a 60% equity stake in Abuja Electricity Distribution Plc (AEDC), one of Nigeria’s largest electricity distribution companies serving four states: Abuja, Nasarawa, Kogi, and Niger.
- Copperbelt Energy Nigeria Limited (CEN) – A fully owned subsidiary established to manage CECA’s interests in Nigeria.
Historically, CECA had investments in the North South Power Company Limited, which operated the 600MW Shiroro Hydro Power Plant in Nigeria. However, this investment was divested following a restructuring of the company's financial commitments.
With a deep understanding of Africa’s energy needs, CECA is committed to enhancing power infrastructure, improving access to electricity, and driving economic growth across the continent. The company continues to explore strategic opportunities in energy investment and development, with a growing focus on renewable energy projects.
